Atlanta police have released the sketch of the man they think kidnapped a 9-year-old boy and then dropped him off miles from home.

It happened Monday night in southwest Atlanta. Willie Myrick says he went outside of his home on Fairburn road to take care of his Chihuahua. That’s when he found a couple of dollar bills in his yard.

“I picked up the money and the man got out of his car and threw me in his car," said Myrick.

Police say a man driving a light gray, four-door Honda Civic grabbed the fourth grader. Police said the car did not have any interior carpeting.

“He was cursing at me telling me to shut up and didn't want to hear a word from me," said Willie. “He said if I told anyone he would hurt me, like in a bad way.”

Myrick said he thought he was going to die. The man drove him around for nearly three hours and then dropped him off in a neighborhood at Potomac Terrace, north of Camp Creek Parkway in East Point.

The boy went to several homes asking for help. One person actually turned him away, but an elderly man let him in and called the cops and his godmother.

Willie said he was not hurt. His godmother said the boy was taken to a hospital for examination.

Police released a sketch of the suspect Wednesday night. He is described as a light-skinned black man in his late 20s. He has dreadlocks down to his neck. The boy says the man was wearing khaki shorts and a white t-shirt with a Nike logo. He also has a tattoo on one of his biceps.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspect to call 911.
