Tennessee man killed after airborne BMW lands on his vehicle

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee man was killed early Saturday morning when a BMW driven by a man suspected of drunken driving went airborne and landed on the roof of his car, authorities said.

James Gamble, 60, of Madison, was killed in the Hermitage neighborhood of Nashville at about 2:30 a.m.CDT, WZTV reported. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the BMW, driven by Ethan Harris, 20, of Old Hickory, went off the road after hitting a concrete barrier, hit a fence and went airborne, landing on Gamble’s vehicle, the television station reported.

Gamble was pronounced dead at the scene, WTVF reported.

According to police, Harris smelled of alcohol and showed signs of impairment, WSMV reported.

Harris was taken to an area hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the television station reported.

Harris was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, according to WZTV. Bail was set at $40,000, the television station reported.
