JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Florida child under the age of 8 has died following a stabbing at a Jacksonville home, deputies said.

According to ActionNewsJax, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a New Haven Road home Wednesday afternoon and found a woman and child who had sustained stab wounds. Emergency crews raced the two to a nearby hospital, where the child died and the woman was listed in critical condition, deputies said.
Investigators believe the woman stabbed the child and herself, ActionNewsJax reported.
Authorities have not revealed how the woman and child were connected. No further information was immediately available.
