The vice president is coming to town today and it could cause some traffic backups.

Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to speak at a faith and freedom conference at the Cobb Galleria Centre between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Other speakers include U.S. Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler; Gov. Brian Kemp; anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist; and local pastor Benny Tate.

Triple Team Traffic’s Mark Arum said you may want to avoid the northwest corridor near Cumberland Boulevard around lunchtime.

If the vice president uses the same route as the president, I-75 south to the Galleria will be shut down for the route. Drivers can use Cobb Parkway as an alternate.
