WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Veterans Affairs has withdrawn a so-called interim rule pertaining to disabled veterans following backlash.

The proposed rule would have determined how much a veteran would receive in monthly disability payments by calculating how well they function on current medication, rather than basing payments on the impairment itself.

The VA backtracked after significant backlash from veterans. The proposed rule also went against three court rulings.
