Police release video of 18-hour deadly standoff from last month

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 has received police video from a deadly shootout that happened last month in Troup County.

In the video, police circles Brian Jessee, who is armed with an assault rifle and wearing body armor.

The standoff started when a woman called police, saying that Jessee was threatening to harm two children in a house.

The standoff last month lasted 18 hours.

On Nov. 15, police responded to Jessee’s home on Sunny Point Circle.

Earlier in the day, police had made contact with Jessie through a series of text messages.

Police said Jessie sent the department photos of several assault weapons and him in a bullet proof vest.

In another message, Jessee wrote, “I’m going to shoot everyone I see in the window,” according to police.

The next day, bodycam footage showed Jessie outside of the home with a gun.

Police evacuated people in the area. The video shows them helping a family get out of their car.

Jessie kept moving towards the home when he spotted a drone. Police said he then started to fire shots up into the air.

The standoff lasted into the night, with several rounds of back-and-forth gunfire.

The next morning, officers noticed a fire in the house.

At one point in the video, the sound of unused ammunition going off can be heard.

Crews tried to put out the fire, but by the time they did so they, found Jessee’s remains inside.

The children were able to get out before any shots were fired.
