Police make arrest in 2 hair weave armed robberies

Solomon Peter Cassell Lawrenceville Police say they have charged 21-year-old Solomon Peter Cassell with aggravated assault and armed robbery for Friday's armed robbery of the Top Beauty Supply store in Lawrenceville.

A man wanted for at least two armed robberies at beauty supply stores in Gwinnett County is behind bars.

Lawrenceville Police say they have charged 21-year-old Solomon Peter Cassell with aggravated assault and armed robbery for Friday's armed robbery of the Top Beauty Supply store in Lawrenceville.  Cash and hair weaves were taken.

A break in the case came after a second robbery attempt at another beauty store on Herrington Road in unincorporated Gwinnett Monday.

Gwinnett Police says when Cassell attempted to rob the store, two female employees ran out the door before he could get any money.  When he left, one of the women snapped a picture of Cassell and the license plate on his getaway car.

Officers went to his residence on Chapel Hill Drive just outside Lawrenceville city limits and waited for him to arrive.  When he did, they conducted a traffic stop where they found a gun inside his car.

A subsequent search of the home led investigators to find evidence tying him directly to the first armed robbery.

Lawrenceville Capt. Greg Vaughn tells WSB's Sandra Parrish they were concerned if not caught, the suspect could have become more violent.

He says surveillance video from the first robbery showed Cassell holding a gun to a woman's head.

"Fortunately no one was hurt or killed in our incident but if this happened again, what's the likelihood of this gun even accidentally going off," says Vaughn.
