The missing truck connected to a murdered Gwinnett County man has been found and police investigators are hoping it will provide clues as to who committed the crime.

Brian Whitfield, 44, was found shot to death in the driveway of his rental home on Flowery Branch Road Saturday morning.  His girlfriend’s truck, a 1995 Dodge Ram “Rumblebee” edition, was missing as well as several items from inside the home.

Someone spotted the distinctive black truck with a yellow stripe behind a vacant business in west Atlanta Tuesday night.

“When detectives found it, it was missing its wheels and its radio,” says Cpl. Jake Smith.  “They haven’t searched it yet for physical evidence to see exactly what else may be missing, but it appears it was partially stripped.”

He tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish investigators will likely check to see of any nearby businesses may have captured anything on video.

Investigators are not sure if Whitfield walked in on a burglary, if he was followed home, or if he had given someone a ride.
