Sandy Springs police identify man they say opened fire at crowded baro

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Sandy Springs have identified, but not arrested a man who they say opened fire at a bar earlier this month.

Police say a man fired at least five shots outside Tony’s Sports Bar & Grill on Roswell Road on February 10.

“Prior to the shooting, two groups of people got into an argument inside the establishment,” said Sgt. Salvador Ortega with Sandy Springs Police. “Security asked them to leave, so both groups were kicked out.”

Police say that’s when the man grabbed his gun and started shooting. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Shortly after the incident, police released a photo of the suspect, but have now been able to identify him as 30-year-old Mahdi Akbar Patton.

Officers say they have not been able to locate Patton to arrest him, but they know he has connections to Minnesota.

He is wanted on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and should be considered armed and dangerous.
