ATLANTA — Home Depot is cutting hundreds of jobs at its headquarters in Vinings, according to the company.
A statement from a Home Depot spokesman says the company is simplifying corporate operations to better support its stores and customers.
The company calls the move a difficult decision and says affected associates are being supported with separation packages, transitional benefits, and job placement support.
Home Depot is also announcing a change to its remote work policy. Corporate staff will transition to a five-day in-office schedule.
The home improvement giant is dealing with a slowdown in business due to the slumping U.S. housing market.
Home Depot is the latest metro Atlanta-based company to announce job cuts. The news comes days after Sandy Springs-based UPS announced layoffs.
