STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Neighbors in Stone Mountain aren’t happy after they say explosions and gunfire on a nearby movie set are keeping them up all night long.
Some of them told Channel 2 anchor Justin Wilfon that they were scared by all the noise until they learned it wasn’t real.
“You could hear this big loud boom! And then pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. Honestly, it really did sound like you were kind of in a battlefield,” neighbor Dan Bulger said.
Bulger said that after a sleepless night earlier this week, finally learned that all the commotion was part of a movie being filmed at Stone Mountain Park under the name “Road Trip.”

“Yeah, I never received a notice. That would have been a courteous thing to do,” Bulger said.
A few other neighbors told Wilfon they did receive a notice telling them that filming featuring simulated gunfire will continue every weeknight through May 20 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Neighbors say they’ve had enough.
Wilfon reached out to Stone Mountain Park. A spokesperson released a statement to him that read, in part, “we sincerely apologize for the disturbance it has caused. This issue has been discussed with the production company, and we expect that all local regulations will be followed.”

One of those regulations is an 11 p.m. noise ordinance. The park says they are expecting the production company to follow that ordinance and prevent more restless nights.
“11 p.m.? Oh, that’s generous. At least it beats the all night they were doing before,” said Bulger.
The park told Wilfon that even though the production company’s flier said loud noises would continue through May 20, they have agreed to let producers film until June 7.
