Coronavirus Economic Impact

Loyal customers continue to call Tour de Italy restaurant in Fayetteville for pizza delivery and pick-up, but owner Mark Weiss tells WSB Radio his restaurant business is off 60% because of Coronavirus concerns.

Weiss who has owned the Italian restaurant  on Highway 54 for only 18 months says he has 17 employees  and is unable to keep them all on so he is busy navigating government websites for financial assistance.

"It is challenging but I do give the government credit, they have made it a little easier these days, disaster loans are a little bit easier. The paperwork is pretty laborious, I spent all weekend working on it, both the  unemployment, working on unemployment for my staff, because I have 17 on staff and most of them are not working, and the ones that are working only have limited shifts, we are running a skeleton crew."

As for keeping his employees and customers healthy Weiss tells WSB Radio, "In terms of the servers we are constantly washing our hands, we use gloves when we fold boxes, we use gloves when we handle orders when we carry them out to peoples cars. We keep customers apart when they come in and wait for their orders, and we encourage them to stay outside and wait in their cars and we will bring the food to them outside."

Weiss says most people are ordering core items; pizza pasta and salad but his chef is available and open to cooking any dish on the regular menu.
