CARROLL COUNTY, GA — A Carroll County teenager charged with killing her mother and stepfather last February has been denied bond again.
Sarah Grace Patrick, who was 17 years old at the time of the killings, asked the court for bond in a renewed request. The judge denied the request.
During the hearing, Patrick’s defense pointed to delays in the case, saying the trial has been pushed back and that the teen has spent more time in solitary confinement as a result.
Patrick’s maternal grandparents testified on her behalf. They told the court Patrick is neither a danger to the community nor a flight risk. The defense argued the grandparents’ statements should carry significant weight.
Prosecutors read a letter from Patrick’s stepfather’s sister expressing safety fears and concerns about witness intimidation.
In denying bond, the judge said nothing has changed since the last time bond was denied. The judge also notes that a media contract signed by Patrick’s father and grandparents could lead to more trouble.
Patrick’s trial is scheduled for August.
