An Atlanta Police officer found a man's body under a streetlight on Westlake Ave. Northwest on Thursday; partially on the sidewalk, partially in the street.

According to APD Homicide Commander Paul Guerrucci, at first officers thought the man might have been hit by a car, but after finding shell casings near the body, they believe he was shot and left to die.

Neighbors know the man as "Rick," and said the man's involvement with drugs, may have gotten him killed.

An autopsy is planned by the Fulton County Medical Examiner.
