Make it a clean sweep in D.C. and sole possession of first place for the Braves.

Sunday afternoon’s 6-5 win over the Nationals, combined with the Phillies’ loss to the Reds, propelled Atlanta into the top spot of the National League East by themselves for the first time this season.

On the strength of another three home runs and effective-enough pitching, the Braves completed a weekend sweep at Washington. Atlanta has won 10 of its past 12 games for a 62-56 record.

Shortstop Dansby Swanson continued his recent power barrage with another home run Sunday for his 24th of the season. He had four long balls in the series. Freddie Freeman and Austin Riley also went deep Sunday, each hitting their 25th of the season.

The Braves open a series against the next-to-last-place Marlins in Miami Monday night.
