Jon-Ross Snell, a sixth grade Walton County middle school student, was airlifted to the hospital after he collapsed during football practice.
The student’s name has not been released. He collapsed just before 4 p.m. during practice at George Walton Academy in Monroe, the Monroe Fire Department says.
The student apparently told a coach he didn’t feel well before losing consciousness.
The boy’s condition has not been released.
This is the second local student to pass out during practice in the last week.
Thursday a Buford High school varsity basketball collapsed while running during a preseason practice session.
Adam Smith, 16, was running when he told a teacher he wasn’t feeling well.
He died Sunday night at Northside Hospital-Forsyth.
“You’ve got a kid that’s so good, just a fine young man with a lot of potential,” Buford High principal Dr. Banks Bitterman told the AJC. “He was an awesome young man.”
Funeral arrangements for Smith will be announced by Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens.
