BEECH GROVE, Ind. — At least one person was killed and three others were hurt during a vigil at a park in suburban Indianapolis, authorities said.
According to WISH-TV and WRTV, the incident occurred about 10 p.m. Sunday at Don Challis Park in Beech Grove, where people had gathered for a vigil. Beech Grove police arrived to find four people with gunshot wounds, the news outlets reported.
Authorities pronounced one person dead at the scene, while the three others were taken to nearby hospitals, according to WRTV. One person remains in critical condition, police said.
Police said there is no longer an active threat but did not provide further details, WRTV reported.
The park shooting occurred just hours after a gunman opened fire at a mall in nearby Greenwood, killing three people and injuring two others. Greenwood and Beech Grove are less than 7 miles apart, according to WISH-TV.
