On the eve of what would have been his 45th birthday, the State of Georgia Thursday dedicated a downtown Atlanta intersection in memory of WSB's Royal Marshall.

The intersection of Courtland St. and Ralph McGill Boulevard now bears signs reading "Royal Marshall Memorial Intersection."

State Representatives Kathy Ashe of Atlanta, Roger Bruce of Atlanta, Calvin Smyre of Columbus, and Jay Roberts of Ocilla sponsored House Resolution 642 honoring the longtime member of the Neal Boortz show.

"It's fitting that an intesection be named for him because he passed across so many of our lives,"said WSB's Belinda Skelton.

Marshall died suddenly of a heart attack in January 2011 leaving his mother, wife, two daughters and a host of other family members to survive him.

Marshall's widow, Annette choked back tears acknowledging the outpouring of love and support she and her daughter's have received since her husband's untimely death.

"For his girls to see their dad's name on a sign means so much," Marshall said.
