The Snellville dog that was given LSD was put down after it was hit by a car. Police have charged the dogs owners with giving the dog the drug and running around naked.
Nicholas Modrich and Jamie Hughes, both 25, were released from a hospital and sent to the Gwinnett County Detention Center on Tuesday night, police said.
Snellville police heard about the two Sunday night when they got reports of a man and woman running around Pinehurst Road naked.
The pair admitted to police they were high on LSD.
"They were tripping pretty hard," Snellville police Capt. Harold Thomas told the AJC.
Cops found a bong, marijuana and Gummi worms. The candy was used to take the LSD, police said. No LSD was found at the home.
The two also admitted to giving some LSD to Oscar the dog. He was missing and later found after being hit by a car. Oscar also bit Modrich's mother and brother, police said.
It was not clear as of Tuesday evening why the dog was put down. Test results are pending for the dog. If it comes back positive for LSD, Modrich and Hughes also could be charged with animal cruelty.
They are already charged with misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a drug-related object and public indecency, police said.
Modrich also was charged with simple battery because a witness saw him forcefully pull Hughes' hair, police said.
