A former Norcross man gets three consecutive life sentences for raping escorts he solicited online.
A Gwinnett County jury convicts Joseph Sivonda of rape, aggravated sodomy and armed robbery for the 2013 attacks.
According to a release from the Gwinnett County District Attorney's office, Sivonda solicited the services of two women on two successive nights in April, 2013 from ads placed on backpage.com.
"Each victim told the jury that when they arrived at the Bradford Gwinnett apartments in Norcross, the defendant produced a handgun, and then sexually assaulted and robbed them," chief assistant D.A. Dan Mayfield said in the release.
While investigating these assaults, officers found evidence that led them to a third victim, who had been sexually assaulted and robbed a few weeks earlier. She had been too afraid to come forward.
Sivonda is already serving 20 years for robbery in state prison.
