NORTH PLAINS, Ore. — Give this driver some points for originality.
A motorist in Oregon, apparently frustrated over limited access to the state's department of motor vehicles because of the coronavirus pandemic, made his own license plate and mounted it on the back of his vehicle, KATU-TV reported.
Washington County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jesse Baker snapped photographs of the do-it-yourself tag. It could be classified as a vanity tag, since it spells out the phrase, "DMV Closed." The expiration date of 12/21 is also written on the plate.
Sgt. Baker saw this on a car he pulled over this afternoon near North Plains. While the driver got some points for creativity, please DON’T do this to your car.

Under Gov. Kate Brown's "Stay Home, Save Lives" executive order, only six Oregon DMV offices are open -- and only by appointment, KATU reported.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said it is permissable to leave an expired plate on a vehicle until the DMV reopens, the television station reported.
