(CALIFORNIA) — Reuters reports that the e-cigarette/vape manufacturer Juul Labs has reached settlements with just shy of 10,000 plaintiffs, covering over 5,000 cases in California.
The settlement amount was not disclosed. The court process filtered through multiple districts with litigation related to Juul Labs Product Cases.
Juul had in September agreed to pay $438.5 million to settle claims by 34 U.S. states and territories that it downplayed its products’ risks and targeted underage buyers.
The vaporizers were briefly banned in late June, with the FDA saying Juul had failed to show their products were safe for public health. Juul filed an appeal which the FDA agreed to hear, placing the ban on hold while they assembled their case.
