The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been asked to assist in an investigation after a man was found shot to death on the front porch of his girlfriend's home Saturday night.

Flowery Branch Police Chief David Spillers tells WSB a babysitter, who was watching several small children at a home at 5604 Chinook Court, called 911 to report a suspicious person.  Spillers says before they could get there, they received a call that there had been a shooting.

"Once they approached the front of the house they discovered Rico Bledson lying on his front porch with a gunshot wound in upper, left hand side of his chest," said Spillers.

The 39-year-old was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.  So far, police aren't releasing any information about the suspect.

"We don't know of anything that was taken at this point, so we can't say that robbery was the motive," said Spillers.
