NEWNAN (AP) Authorities say a man has been arrested for driving his van into a Newnan restaurant and then fleeing the accident.

Newnan police officer Lt. Eddie Attaway says Douglas Paul Stolarick drove his van off the Newnan Crossing Bypass and went airborne before striking the Tokyo Restaurant. Attaway said Stolarick drove away with one headlight dangling from the side of the van driving in the wrong lane and refusing to pull over for an officer.

Attaway said when Stolarick stopped his car, he fought with officers, who stunned the man before taking him into custody.

Stolarick is charged with DUI, failure to maintain a lane, striking a fixed object, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting officers.

A listed phone number for Stolarick could not be found.
