Two arrested in murder of DeKalb baby

DeKalb Police Chief Cedric Alexander on two arrests in baby's murder

Nearly a month after a mass shooting at a DeKalb County home left a 9-month-old baby dead, and three women wounded, two men are now facing charges.

DeKalb Police Chief Cedric Alexander says 18-year-old Devin Thomas and 36-year-old Marco Watson are charged with one count of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
The two were already in custody on other charges related to the murder of little Kendarius Edwards, the baby’s mother, grandmother, and another woman.
Alexander says investigators suspect the shootings at the home on To Lani Farm Road may have been in retaliation for the murder of another woman, Alexis Malone, who was a possible witness to yet another murder that occurred May 3.
“Devin Thomas, we think may have been a friend of hers,” he says.
Alexander says the arrests were made due to good police work and a $7,000 reward is still available for information leading to the arrests of any other suspects who may have played a part in the shootings.
“We’re not going to tolerate this kind of Western-style mentality of you just go out and shoot people recklessly because of how you felt on that particular day about something or someone,” he warned.
