When thinking of Athens, Georgia a few things automatically come to mind, UGA, The 40 Watt club and Jittery Joe's. It is arguably the best coffee on the East Coast and some would even venture to say in the nation!
Jittery Joe's Coffee started back in 1994 next to the famous 40 Watt Club. The coffee is a favorite of a number of famous names like Michael Stipe with REM, Penn and Teller and members of Wide Spread Panic.
What makes Jittery Joe's Coffee so good?
Bon Googe , CEO of Jittery Joe's says, "I think probably our best secret is our roast master, Charlie Mustard, who has been roasting for us for 18 and a half of the 20 years we've been in business. He has a masters in food science."
Googe says they plan to open a new location now in Atlanta.
"We are going to be located in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton and we'll open January 7th," says Googe.
He says as the word is getting out people are saying how excited they are to get a taste of the classic city here in Atlanta.
He says, "There's a lot of UGA alumni in Atlanta."
This is not the first time Atlantans have been able to get their Jittery Joe's fix in the city. Googe says the cafe at the World Congress Center uses Jittery Joe's coffee, but it’s sold under a different name.
