ATLANTA — Jordynn Woods has been living at the Shepherd Center since March following an accident in Clayton County. Woods and a friend were hit by a driver as they were walking alongside the roadway.

The accident happened at the intersection of West Fayetteville Road and Phoenix Highway.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes spoke with Woods about her recollection of the accident.

“I really didn’t know, when I woke up I was confused and cold because I didn’t know why I was on the floor,” Woods said.

Her mother was hysterical, as Woods couldn’t move anything on her body.

She’s been in therapy for about three months. The things Woods can do have been slowly increasing each day.

“At first I couldn’t talk, like I lost my voice and I got it back recently. So don’t take what you can do for granted,” Woods said.

Although Woods has lost movement, she hasn’t lost her sense of humor.

The staff at the Shepherd Center says she cracks jokes and is frequently seen cheering up other patients.

Wood’s mother is aware that the transition from the Shepherd Center back to their home will take some renovations and money.

Woods will not be able to leave the facility until her home has been made accessible for her current state. The family is open to receiving donations that will help them make those upgrades and bring Woods home.
