The reward for information on a man who shot a Cobb County cop now stands at $15,000, as police admit they need help trying to find him.

The National Police Defense Foundation, based in Morganville, New Jersey, issued a statement saying Cobb Police Chief John Houser asked its leaders for help.

He got it.

The foundation, which has helped in the arrests of several suspected cop-shooters, Tuesday added $10,000 dollars to the reward for the man who shot Cobb Police Officer Danny Rogers July 12, bringing the total to $15,000.

Rogers, who was canvassing a Smyrna neighborhood near the Concord Chase Apartments in an effort to find a stolen police rifle, spotted a suspicious man who ran from him as he approached. Rogers chased the suspect, who turned and fired at least one shot. The officer was hit in his bullet-proof vest, according to police and was not seriously injured. He is back on duty now, but the trail of the unidentified shooter has grown cold. Authorities hope the increased reward sparks tips that lead to the suspect's arrest.
