LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A metro Atlanta police department announced the launch of its new, cutting-edge Real Time Information Center.
The Lawrenceville Police Department is launching the new initiative aimed to enhance public safety, improve response times, and support authorities and investigations as events are unfolding, according to officials.
“This is a significant step forward for our department and our community,” said John Mullin, Chief of the Lawrenceville Police Department. “The RTIC allows us to be more proactive, more informed, and more effective in how we respond to incidents. By putting real-time information directly into the hands of our officers, we are enhancing safety, improving response times, and strengthening our ability to serve the citizens of Lawrenceville.”
Officials said the RTIC will allow analysts to quickly identify suspects, monitor activity, and provide actionable intelligence to officers in the field including integrating 911 calls, surveillance cameras, license plate readers, and crime databases into one platform.
“The Real Time Information Center (RTIC) is a took which provides officers with more actionable information and technology so they can serve the community quicker and more accurately,” RTIC official Damien Cruz said.
Lawrenceville joins other metro Atlanta area police departments with launching Real Time Information Centers.
The RTIC will serve multiple critical functions, including:
- Enhancing officer safety through real-time intelligence
- Improving response times by delivering timely, accurate information
- Assisting in solving crimes more efficiently and effectively
- Supporting incident command and control operations
- Serving as a valuable community engagement tool
- “This innovative unit was established through a grant, with minimal cost to taxpayers. This demonstrates the department’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, while advancing public safety capabilities,” officials add.
