ATLANTA, GA — Some airline contract workers at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport may be transitioning to a new vendor after Delta Air Lines announces a new, additional partnership with catering service company, Newrest.

“Delta is transitioning our Atlanta commissary services from Unifi to Newrest and partnering with both organizations to maintain a seamless customer and employee experience. While the partner overseeing this work will change, all Unifi employees have been given the opportunity to join the Newrest team.”

Atlanta-based ground handling services company Unifi Aviation reports that Delta has terminated its contract with them. As a result, Unifi issued a WARN notice to its affected employees.

In a statement to WSB Radio, Unifi Aviation states, “as is common in the industry, we anticipate that the new contractor will retain all or most of the current workforce. Affected employees will also have the opportunity to remain with Unifi in other roles at the airport, should they choose to do so. We are committed to supporting our team members through this transition and will provide guidance and assistance as they explore their options.”

The termination of the contract with Delta could affect 379 people on September 30.

Unifi Aviation handles food preparation and transportation of prepackaged food and beverages for flights.
