LIVE UPDATES: Tornado watch, flash flood warning in effect for several metro counties

(ATLANTA, Ga.) — A tornado watch is in effect for several metro counties as another round of strong to severe storms moves through the area today.

WSB Meteorologist Christina Edwards says the Tornado Watch is in effect until 12 p.m. for the following counties in our viewing area: Butts, Greene, Henry, Lamar, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Pike, Putnam, and Upson.

Heavy rain, damaging wind gusts and isolated, brief tornadoes are the main risks with the storms. There is a possibility of localized flooding in some areas as well. For a full list of active warnings, check out Christina’s Twitter feed.

6:35 a.m. The heaviest of the rain has moved to the east of the city. Steady, heavy rain will continue through 9:00 a.m. A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for all of metro Atlanta through 12:00 p.m.
