The man convicted in the fatal shooting of an Atlanta Braves pitcher during spring training in 1995 has been released from a Florida prison after 17 years.
Forty-seven-year-old Neal Evans was sentenced to 27 years for shooting Dave Shotkoski to death on a sidewalk in West Palm Beach, but got credit for "good time." It was his seventh stint in prison.
He had faced the death penalty at his first trial, which ended in a hung jury. At his 1997 retrial, he pled guilty to second degree murder.
