Getting Hitched During Coronavirus

You've heard of a drive-thru wedding. What about a drive-by wedding? That's what a Bartow County woman had to do after the Coronavirus basically wrecked her wedding plans.

Chelsea Jones got engaged just after Thanksgiving, and had plans for a big wedding of her dreams in May.

"And when all of this happened, I was just kinda shocked and I didn't make a decision forever," said Jones.

But after going back and forth, Chelsea was inspired by a friend's wedding.

"My friend did a small wedding with just her family and I saw it over Instagram where she just did a drive-thru wedding and I was like 'I love that, I'm doin it'," said Chelsea. So the wedding is back on for May 9th.

She says the wedding will just be immediate family, who will we be sitting outside on bales of hay, at the required six feet apart, and then all of her friends can line up in their decorated cars to drive by and wish them well.

"Normally, whenever you leave a wedding, you throw bird seed or rice, or confetti; so, we're making little gift bags for people to pick up at the entrance so they can throw it out when they drive by us," said Chelsea.

Chelsea admits that it has been stressful and not what she had envisioned.

"We're gonna get married and it's gonna be fine. I had it all a certain way in my head. We're still decorating it the way that I wanted it and how I've always dreamed of having the wedding. It's still gonna look the same. It's just going to be a smaller crowd. Maybe, eventually we might, maybe in the fall if everything dies down, we can have a reception later on. For right now, we don't know if we pushed it back until June if we might still be in this same situation. So we might as well just have it and make the most of it try and make the little drive-by a party," said Jones.
