Marcus Mariota’s time with the Atlanta Falcons is over after just one season.
On Tuesday morning the Falcons announced they have released the former Heisman Trophy winner.
Mariota was drafted second overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL draft.
The move will save the Falcons roughly $12 million in cap space. The 29-year-old quarterback ended the 2022 season on injured reserve after he was benched for the final four games in favor of Desmond Ridder. Mariota ended the season with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games.
