ATLANTA — Delta is making sure every passenger is able to fly comfortably in the sky with a newly developed seat prototype.

The Atlanta-based airline is working on a new passenger seat specifically made for wheelchairs.

The first-of-its-kind product debuted at the annual Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

According to Delta, the design will allow all passengers a standard seat to accommodate wheelchair restraints.

Travelers will have access to a headrest, center console tray tables, and a cocktail table that will adjust to serve passengers with wheelchairs in place.

This patented design offers new possibilities for customers with disabilities to enjoy a travel experience they truly deserve,” said Rick Salanitri, President of Delta Flight Products.

The airline said it will take about 18 months to test out the restraints and get safety reviews.
