The Cobb DOT Columns Drive improvement project begins Friday, seeking to address safety concerns and enhance the corridor’s appearance.

After recent incidents with fallen trees, engineers and residents worked together on a plan that balances safety with preserving the area’s character.

Crews will remove 47 hazardous trees, prune others, and later plant 50 new trees and hundreds of shrubs. Most planting will be finished by early January, with maintenance continuing through spring 2026.
