CDC finds Covid-19 no longer one of the leading causes of death in US

ATLANTA — A new report from the Atlanta-based CDC finds that Covid-19 is no longer one of the top 10 causes of death in the US.

CBS News Christopher Cruise says, “heart disease remains the leading cause of death in America. Cancer is at number two, and the CDC says the number of deaths from both is higher than in 2023.”

Cruise reports the overall death rate for all races and ethnicity groups dropped to its lowest level since 2020.
