One of the oldest and maybe biggest Braves fans will be watching as the World Series again comes to Atlanta.

Jeanette McCurry, 85, retired to Ellijay a dozen years ago but lived off Metropolitan Parkway in 1995 when the Braves won the World Series.

She amassed quite the collection of memorabilia including a huge picture of the winning team from that year, six signed baseballs, tomahawks, and t-shirts. Her entire basement in her Atlanta home was dedicated to the Braves.

She also frequented both ballparks in Atlanta.

“I walked the bases; I met the players; I talked to the players; got their autographs,” she tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

McCurry even named her dog Lemke after her favorite player second baseman Mark Lemke.

“He was just small and cute you know,” she says.

When the couple moved to Ellijay, most of her prized collection was packed away in boxes before her husband’s death a decade ago.

McCurry has enjoyed getting it back out as she hopes for another World Series Championship by her favorite team.

Even in the bad years, she remained loyal.

“People would say, ‘Why do you still like them so well; why do you keep up with them’. I said, ‘Well, just wait. One day they’ll be there again,’ and I think they’re going to,” says McCurry.

When asked what she will do if the Braves win the series this year she replied, “Woo… you’ll probably hear me hollering all the way from Ellijay, Georgia all the way to Atlanta.”
