ATLANTA — Former Channel 2 anchor Jovita Moore received a prestigious honor from Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Sunday.

Moore was one of several recipients of the Phoenix Award. The award is the highest honor an individual or group can receive from the Atlanta mayor and recognizes outstanding service.
“As one of my last official duties as Mayor, I am honored to recognize a distinguished group of people who have made an indelible impression upon our city and our administration,” Bottoms said. “They represent the unsung heroes found throughout our city, who have made Atlanta the shining city upon a hill.”

Moore died in October, seven months after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. She had been with Channel 2 Action News since 1998.
