ATLANTA — At least three families and 14 people were displaced from their homes Friday morning after a large apartment fire broke out in southwest Atlanta.
Atlanta Fire Department said multiple apartment units in a building caught fire in the 900 block of Howell Place.
Once fire extended through the attic, firefighters had to evacuate.

There is no word at this time on if anyone was inside the apartment at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Atlanta Fire and Rescue said heavy smoke could be seen in the West End area. It has now cleared.
