Atlanta private school to close this Friday, weeks before school year ends

Midtown International School Announces Closure Effective April 3

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A private school in Atlanta is set to close its doors this week.

Midtown International School announced it will permanently shut its doors on Friday following a vote by its board of directors.

The school says declining re-enrollment and financial strain led to the decision. Officials point to a significant increase in demand for financial aid and scholarships as part of the issue.

Parents were notified of the closure on Monday.

The school, located off Briarcliff Road, had been scheduled to continue classes through May 21, according to its academic calendar.

Midtown International, which describes itself as a school for globally minded gifted students, says it is working to support families, students, faculty and staff during the transition.

The closure comes just weeks before the planned end of the school year.
