COWETA COUNTY, Ga — A $2.5 billion battery manufacturing plant that was set to be built in Coweta County is no longer coming as the company changed plans.
The company FREYR Battery announced in 2022 that the factory would make batteries to store wind and solar energy and would bring 700 jobs to Georgia.
Freyr Battery Senior Vice President of Business Development Jason Peace plans to focus on a Texas Solar Module company that was recently purchased.
Freyr says it will pay a $20 million grant back that was approved by Coweta County leaders.
