Two Georgia beaches have landed on a new list of America’s 100 best secret beaches, according to the Family Destination Guide.

One of those, Driftwood Beach on the north end of Jekyll Island, made the top 25, coming in at number 24.

Driftwood Beach is known for its gnarled and weathered trees, which were left behind from years of erosion. The beach is a popular spot for photographs and for weddings.

The beaches on Cumberland Island came in at number 32. Cumberland is Georgia’s largest and southernmost barrier island. The island is home to over 9,800 acres of congressionally designated wilderness and remains largely undeveloped. The only way to get there is by passenger ferry or private boat and the only way to stay on the island is to camp.

For a short trek outside of Georgia, South Carolina’s Daufuskie Island also made the list at number 62. The island is just over the Georgia border north of Savannah. The island is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places because of its Gullah and Civil War history.

Three of the top five beaches on the list are in Hawaii.
