Kennesaw State University fires head women's softball coach Torrence Acheson for violating the school's sexual harassment policies.
The Marietta Daily Journal reports an anonymous letter accusing Acheson of sexual misconduct led to the Title IX investigation.
The letter sender accuses Acheson of making sexual comments to players and inappropriate touching. The letter also claims Acheson berated staff and students and even threatened to withhold student-athlete scholarship money.
"We are extremely disappointed in Coach Acheson's behavior and apologize to our student athletes and their parents. This type of conduct simply will not be tolerated at Kennesaw State," KSU Interim President Houston Davis states in a prepared media release.
Acheson was in his fourth season at KSU and about to start his second year as head coach.
KSU pledges to improve Title IX training to enhance compliance.
"These improvements will establish the necessary steps to improve accountability and oversight to ensure that our student-athletes are receiving the proper care and support they need to be successful both on and off the playing field," Davis states.
