Delays at the Georgia Lottery frustrated lots of lottery players across the state on a day that the Powerball jackpot jumped up to $425 million.

Many Metro Atlanta retailers’ machines were down in the area but, Lottery officials deny there weren't any performance problems with machines.  They say heavy sales may have been the issue.

Player Tony Hansen wasn't happy about it.

"This morning (Sunday) I couldn't play numbers at all.  Machines were down from like 9, 10 this morning," says player Tony Hansen.

Powerball player Richard Hay says, "they told me in there that there was a software update earlier today and it's just like, you do that and it's expected.  Better they do it now than on Wednesday."

The $425 million dollar Powerball jackpot game will be played in 42 states and the winning numbers will be announced on Wednesday.

To make things worse, Sunday was supposed to be the first day gamblers could play the lottery online.

But there is no mention about online sales at galottery.com.

A Lottery spokesperson says that a soft launch is in the works. You can register through the Players Club on their website.

The lottery says that feature is not related to any issues the machines had Sunday.
