The head of the Game Management Section of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says hunters should be aware that the Chattahoochee Fall Line and Spirit Creek Forest wildlife management areas will be open for hunting this fall.
There are three separate tracts within the Chattahoochee Fall Line in Marion and Talbot Counties, totaling more than 10,000 acres. The 570-acre Spirit Creek Forest WMA is in Richmond County and offers archery deer and turkey hunting along with small game.
Firearms with suppressors are now legal for hunting on private property, with the landowner's permission. That change was enacted as part of Georgia's wide-ranging Safe Carry Protection Act which took effect July first.
The changes are posted online at www.gohuntgeorgia.com/hunting/regulations.
