Emory launches rapid HIV testing program

Atlanta’s Emory University changes financial aid in attempt to help more students graduate debt-free

(ATLANTA, Ga.) — After announcing plans in September, Emory University is officially launching its Together TakeMeHome (TTMH) HIV rapid testing program.

“Atlanta is one of the most heavily impacted cities by HIV infections in the country,” Dr. Travis Sanchez, a professor at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health and the executive director of the Together TakeMeHome program, tells WSB Radio.

Self-testing is key to understanding the true impact of HIV on Georgia.

TTMH was awarded $8.3 million in September, the first of a five-year CDC award to implement and distribute the self-testing program. Tests will be delivered directly by Amazon to members enrolled through the TTMH website.

Administration is safe and easy — a single mouth swab will show results after just twenty minutes.
