U.S. Marshals catch up to a convicted killer who's been hiding from the law for months after walking out of his murder trial in Fulton County.
Marshals track Shane Demetrice Woods to an apartment in Clarkston. He's now locked up inside the Fulton County Jail.
Woods fled court in February while on trial for a drug-related murder in Alpharetta in 2013. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports he was in street clothes and able to exit the courthouse during a courtroom break.
As the AJC reports, Fulton County prosecutors had learned of alleged witness tampering by Woods and asked Superior Court Judge Henry Newkirk to revoke his bond.
Despite his absence, Woods was convicted of murder and related counts for the fatal shooting of Zachary Rose during an attempted drug deal. The judge sentenced Woods to life in prison.
Woods' co-defendant Jerad Owens pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for a lesser sentence.
Woods now may face additional charges of weapons and drug possession since marshals say both were found during Tuesday's arrest.
