(WSB Radio) A Facebook threat causes commotion at a Douglas County high school.
A 16-year-old Lithia Springs High School student reportedly posted an online threat to harm himself. A teen girl saw the posting about 7:45 a.m.
Authorities converged on the school before class started, with deputies searching the school and individual students.
Many anxious parents, alerted by the unusual activity, plucked their kids from school.
Turned out the teen who made the threat wasn't there. He was found at his home, and will undergo a mental evaluation.
The school day resumed.
"Whether it's a student, staff, buidling, whatever. We do take it seriously," principal Fred Ervin tells Channel 2 Action News. "We do look into it, and we wanted to make sure before we did anything else that our school and our staff and students are safe."
