Fulton County officials are asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible for shooting an arrow into a dog’s head, narrowly missing his eye.

Fulton County Animal Services Executive Director David York tells WSB they were called after someone found the pit-bull mix Wednesday night in the 4000 block of Kenner Drive in Atlanta.

"The dog had an arrow that had just missed his left eye and gone through his head and out the back,” said York. “It was probably about two-and-a-half feet long with a big metal sharp stud on the end."

York says the dog, now called "Arrow," was taken to Pets are People Too Animal Hospital at Ansley where he is expected to make a full recovery.

"It was a very sweet dog.  Even when it came into the emergency room, he was still wagging his tail with the arrow stuck through his head," said York.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for anyone who can lead them to the person who is responsible.

"There's so much cruelty that goes on.  I mean, there are so many homeless animals anyway that need help.  For someone to either do this to their own pet or to a stray is beyond comprehension," said York.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fulton County Animal Services at 404-613-0358.
